CME for Physicians
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of The University of
Kansas Medical Center Office of Continuing Education and the Kansas State
Ophthalmological Society. The KU Medical Center Office of Continuing
Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for
physicians.
The University of Kansas Medical Center Office of Continuing Medical
Education designates the Saturday educational activity for a maximum of 3.5
hours and the Friday program for 6.5 hours in category 1 credit towards the
AMA Physicians’ Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only
those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational
activity.
OBJECTIVES—Upon completion of this conference, participants should
be able to:
Friday:
- Utilize the appropriates codes for reimbursement of ophthalmic procedures.
- Recognize and avoid common mistakes in recordkeeping and third party billing for the ophthalmology office.
Saturday:
- Discuss the features of electronic medical records systems.
- Incorporate efficiency into the eye care clinical office without sacrificing patient care.
- Utilize consistent, strong recordkeeping and patient skills to prevent a medical malpractice situation.
- Implement a solid, legal HIPAA plan while avoiding common misinterpretations.
- Utilize guidelines to identify and hire good employees.
GENERAL INFORMATION
LODGING - A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hotel at Old
Town, located at 830 East First, Wichita, KS 67202. Please
make your reservation directly with the hotel at 316-267-4800 or
877-2OLDTOWN. When making your reservation, inform them you are
eligible for the KSOS room block to receive the discounted rate of $97 for a
queen studio plus tax. Reservations must be received by the hotel on
or before February 6, 2005.
REGISTRATION - Participants may pre-register by completing the registration form online or mailing a form and payment to KSOS at P.O. Box 4103, Topeka, KS 66604 on or before February 25, 2005. To pay on arrival, fax registration to KSOS at 785-234-9718. Registration on site will be available for an additional fee.
